Technology | Architecture
Orchestria's distributed architecture provides complete coverage of where violations occur, which can be anywhere.
Unlike other vendors, who take a monolithic approach, Orchestria's distributed architecture intelligently apply policy both before and after an electronic action is taken. This flexible approach allows customers to deploy the right combination of Policy Agents to meet their messaging needs, rather than being forced in any particular direction:
| Unified Platform |
|
| Centralized Management Server |
Orchestria CMS is the central point where policies are created and
pushed out to the control agents. In parallel, all captured data is
returned from the agents to the CMS for reporting and review. In the
case where the agent is disconnected from the CMS, the last remaining
set of policies continue to be enforced and all captured data is held.
Once a connection is reestablished, new policies are sent out and captured
data is returned to the CMS. |

| Client Agents |
Orchestria Client Agents operate at the endpoint whether connected
or disconnected. They apply policy before an electronic action, such
as messaging, web or file activity, ever leave a users machine. Client
Agents have the advantage of being able to provide instant feedback
to the user by intelligently analyzing election action prior to encryption.
Client Agents support popular applications including Microsoft Outlook,
Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Multi-user Client Agents
for Citrix and similar thin-client server environments are also available. |
| Server Agents |
These agents provide real-time application of policy at a server
level. Agents are currently available for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus
Domino servers, while Bloomberg LP provides Orchestria customers with
access to embedded agents as a fully integrated component of the Bloomberg
Professional® service. Server Agents operate prior to the processing
of the message, web or file activity, thereby ensuring that electronic
actions are in violation are not completed. Client and Server Agents
can be used in a hybrid mode, whereby the Server Agent only processes
electronic actions which have not already had policy applied at the
client. This avoids duplication of effort, while ensuring that messages
from secondary clients, such as Outlook Web Access and Blackberry or
any third party unmanaged devices, still have full policy applied. |
| Network Agents |
The Network Agent allows electronic action, including message, web
and file activity, from any source to have real-time policy applied,
usually (though not exclusively) at the network boundary. This ensures
that the use of non-standard email systems, such as those embedded
into applications, generated by back office solutions, or from unauthorized
systems, remains fully protected. |
| Import Agents |
These agents ingest messages post-send, applying policy primarily
for review purposes. Import Agents are available for the live ingest
of e-mail from Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino Journals, as well
as batch ingest from PST, MSG, EML, NSF and Bloomberg files. Instant
Messages may be ingested from Bloomberg, IMLogic, FaceTime, MindAlign
and other systems. |
| Archive Agents |
Archive Agents These agents provide integration with popular email
archiving solutions, preventing long-term duplication of stored messages,
while allowing high speed access during the review period. Archive
Agents can also provide real-time contextual meta-data to the archive,
facilitating selective archiving, policy based retention, optimization,
categorization and intelligence. Archive Agents are available for archiving
solutions from IBM, EMC, Symantec, Iron Mountain and others. |

| Integration API’s |
In order to leverage your existing infrastructure and control the
entire life cycle of electronic action control, Orchestria integrates
with many archiving vendors and other technology partners. |
| Workflow Applications |
To streamline the electronic actions, which are mission critical
to business, Orchestria provides a solution that fits into your existing
business operations to enhance your current workflow with an easy way
to ensure that all electronic actions are compliant. |
| Queries/Reports |
With robust reports and search queries, substantial ramp up time
is avoided. The learning curve is greatly reduced and the most common
reports and queries are at your fingertips |

Any number of Policy Engines can be accessed by one or more messaging servers, with automatically load balancing across them. Policy Engines can be added or removed 'on the fly' to allow for periods of peak operation, as well as for scheduled or unscheduled downtime.
