Orchestria, Symantec and EMC scoop top three places in readership survey by leading publication for financial services professionals
New York, NY - July 06, 2006
Orchestria Corporation, the global leader in software for managing the risks associated with electronic communications, has been named as one of the top three vendors in the fourth Waters Rankings in the category "Best Messaging Compliance". The top-ranked Symantec and second-placed EMC are both Orchestria partners.
Waters magazine covers the practical implementation of technology in the securities industry. More than 500 readers from six continents voted for 2006's Waters Rankings, which invite readers to "pick the best solutions out there that get the job done".
The Waters rankings, published on July 1, 2006 named Orchestria's partner Symantec as the Best Messaging Compliance solution with 29.1% of readers' votes. Another Orchestria partner, EMC Corporation, came second with 24.4% of votes. Orchestria itself was placed third with almost a fifth of the votes cast (19.8%).
Orchestria is the recognized leader in policy management solutions being adopted by leading archive vendors to pre tag and categorize all content before it reaches the archive. As such it is part of the Symantec Intelligent Archiving Partner program, developed to provide customers with more information about the content and context of their data so they can make more informed decisions about archiving, storage, retention and discovery. Based on policies, Orchestria's technology identifies the relevance of each communication and creates metadata with specific characteristics about each message. This can be used to cut storage costs by ensuring the optimal balance between speed of recovery and cost of the media; to cut risk by only keeping data as long as it is required; and to enable faster discovery of documents.
Orchestria's Active Policy Management (APM) solution is integrated with EMC Corporation's Centera content addressed storage (CAS) solution. The integrated solution combines Orchestria's ability to identify and interact when an e-mail or web activity violates a corporate policy or regulation with the EMC Centera CAS system, which ensures long-term content integrity and online access for large volumes of fixed content across an entire enterprise.
The Waters editorial acknowledged that "the financial services industry would grind to a halt without the tireless efforts of those who design and build the technologies that sit on traders' desktops, provide connectivity, ensure compliance, execute trade [and] deliver data."
Bo Manning, CEO of Orchestria, said: "The fact that almost 20% of Waters readers that took part in the rankings acknowledged that Orchestria helped them get their job done is paramount - this is a vote from people who spend their days handling the practical implementation of technology in the securities industry. To be named alongside two of our partners rather than any competing technologies shows that Orchestria is an undisputed leader in policy management and compliance."
